Truth or Rumor?

Im looking to see if there is any truth to this statement or not- Please help. Are Chocolate's more aggressive than yellows or blacks? In the pursuit of finding our new family member I told my wife I wanted a Chocolate, who then proceded to tell her sister. She states that during her research- she found that Choclates are not as good family dogs as the other colors due to their more agressive nature. Is this true?

This is so not true. Chocolate became a "popular" color and BYB bred for that color in no regards to genetic flaws , health disposition ect that' s what happens. I have heard so many people at one time or another say Oh chocolates they are so hyper, dumb, non trainable. The best one was Do you know that they are missing a part of their brain?

Chocolates are a COLOR and if you buy one from a reputable breeder theres no problem just like with any other color. OK Off the soap box No truth in it. My Harley is the BEST dog as laid back as they come and LOVES people , kids and other dogs fancy that.

What sort of research did your SIL do? Obviously, it wasn't very in depth. Labs as a breed are not aggressive dogs. Couldn't be further from it. Having said that, chocolates do have a bad reputation, but not for being aggressive. Many people think they are harder to train and more hyper than blacks or yellows. This is not true if you can find a good breeder who knows what they're doing. If you get a poorly bred chocolate, that can be true, but that's true of any color and any breed of dog. Do your research and find a good, reputable breeder and you won't regret it!

All I can say my Chocolate Lab is not aggressive. I take him to the town dog park and every now and then there will a dog that will be a bit aggressive my Lab just looks at them and jump over or round them.
When Zale was about 2 years old a Dachshund from next door grabbed his upper lip Zale just walk over to me with this dog hanging. It drop off, all Zale did was to jump around the Dachshund until it went home.
My UPS man and the Gas meter reader man do not trust Black or Yellow Labs but trust Chocolate Lab.Thats a Quote

So not true. Educating ourselves is very important. As Lukesmom said, find a reputable breeder and you will not regret getting a chocolate. I have 14 right now...all indoors. They are 5, 3, 2-1/2, 12 months, 4 months and 9-3 week old puppies. All chocolates....

That's like saying that a certain race of human are more aggressive or stupid. Labs are labs. regardless of color. all the same.

Hardly true at all. I have 5 chocolates, and they are sweet and very trainable. Even my 16 week old pups are walking on leash, behave and trustworthy off leash as well.
