Hi all! I have a year old lab, Loki, who has been shedding for the last 2-3 weeks.. tons of hair. I know these dogs shed a lot, but now I can easily see his skin on his belly. The thicker hair is almost all off, but there is a thinner hair underneath. Is this normal ? I had a black lab before and he shed a lot too, but not this bad.

Aj sheds his fur quite a lot and the fur on his belly is quite thin and i keep wondering when its going to grow but its stayed the same so i don't think anything of it now lol.

Kirby has never had hair on his lower belly. we can see his umbilicus and nipples very clearly and all the surrounding skin. i never really thought twice about it!

Just got in from the vet and she did a scraping. Loki doesn't have any type of skin disease. She took some blood to check for an over active thyroid. Keep your paws crossed that it's good news.

this is my Loki right after he started to shed. You can see his coat is a little thin, more like a spring coat than a winter coat.

Moose has little fur on his belly, we say he has a naked belly. I think he gets cold easier because of it, so he wears a jacket out in temps below 30 or so. The Vet said it was nothing to be concerned about.

Thats an adoreable picture of Loki! Moose's 2nd birhtday was last week, he got a GoNut and a new bed...I didn't even get a picture of his cupcake (I baked peanut butter, carrot, & honey cupckaes for him) They came out fairly good, so long as you like things DRY..he enjoyed them. He had one on his birthday (least tues) and one everyday since until we ran out last night.

Blood work came back normal for Loki. Vet suggested melatonin, which may stimulate hair growth, and omega 3.
