JMO, run, do not walk from this person. You love your dog, he is awesome, but do you plan on doing clearances on him to make sure there are no issues, this is just one thing that needs to be done. Hopefully, some of our breeders will post.

I agree with Korri 110%...run far far away from this person. There is so much that goes into breeding a healthy, correct labrador and even then there are no guarantees. Most reputable breeders also place their puppies with limited registration which means you can NOT breed your labradors, and if they are placed with a full registration there are certain criteria that they want you to meet in order to breed. First off they need many certifications such as hips, elbows, eyes, heart, EIC, the list goes on and on and on. The puppy should also be shown in some form or another for instance conformation, rally, obedience, agility, and preferably more than one avenue. Please feel free to PM or email me and we can go into this much further.

I am sur eyour puppy is a beautiful little guy and you think he is perfect in every way, but labradors are prone to many genetic health issues and many or porrly bred and do not have the best temperament and do not meet the Labrador standard.

Good luck with your little one and I hope he is continuing to improve health wise. And for what it is worth, healthy puppies do NOT have loose, watery stinky stools just because they are puppies.

Keep us posted on his improvement!

Luke had the watery stools when he was a puppy too. My vet kept giving me Metronidazole and it only worked while he was on the pills. The diarrhea always came back a few days after the meds were gone. Took me forever to figure out that he has food allergies. What kind of food are you feeding? If he's only 17 weeks old and you've already switched his food several times, you aren't giving any of the brands time to figure out if they work. A change in food will almost always cause diarrhea simply because it's different. It takes a little time for the dog's body to adjust and stools to be normal. But it does also sound like you were way overfeeding, so that could be it too. If it continues, I would look into foods with limited ingredients or allergy formulas, like Natural Balance, California Natural, Wellness, etc.

As for the guy who offered you money to stud your dog, he's an idiot. There is no way that anyone can look at a 17 week old puppy and know if it's going to be quality breeding stock. Your dog isn't even sexually mature yet! He has a lot of growing and changing to do. Please don't be taken in by the offer of money - chances are, this guy is part of the pet overpopulation problem by producing puppies with no health screening on the parents. Please don't enable him and risk those puppies being born with debilitating genetic diseases or end up in shelters because homes were not screened properly. Have your dog neutered when he's old enough and love him as your pet.
