Can Labs eat strawberries?

By · Updated

Short answer

Yes, in moderation. Fresh, washed strawberries are safe for most dogs as an occasional treat. Remove the green tops, cut them up, and avoid canned, syrup-packed or sweetened strawberries, which may contain xylitol. A medium berry has only about 4 calories, so a few fit easily within a Lab’s treat allowance.
